Russian

There is little I can do right now to get ready for our trip to Kazakhstan. It's most likely a year or so away. What I can do, besides paper work, is learn some Russian. It's always nice to know a few words before going somewhere. The two most spoken languages in Kazakhstan are Kazakh and Russian. I am not sure how I could learn Kazakh here in Nebraska. I couldn't even find Russian language classes, so I turned to my good friend Pimsleur. I first met Pimsleur before traveling to the Czech Republic. He taught me enough to be able to figure things out. He hooked me up again before visiting Italy. Fingers crossed I went to the local library to see if I could find him. Jackpot! I found two different sets of Pimsleurs learn and speak essential Russian...they are currently downloading onto my ipod.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. A day set aside to watching television, eating delicious food, and playing board games while not having to worry about work for a few days...perfect. Also, since the friends we ate with today didn't have turkey we are going to do it all again on Saturday!

Now, I am not starting a blog to tell share our Thanksgiving News with you. Our life is boring but not that boring. Many have heard the news. Jim and I are adopting an "under two year old" from Kazakhstan. What do you call an under two year old? Do I say Jim and I are adopting a baby? a kid? Whatever, we are adopting an under two year old and we are thrilled.

The process officially started on November 18, 2009 when we mailed in our contract to the agency we are working with. Now we enter the home study process. A process to prove that we are suitable to be parents of an under two year old.

During the time we were considering adoption I spent a lot of time reading people's adoption adventures. I figured if it helped us maybe we can help someone else. Now if you care little about this long drawn out adoption process maybe I can draw you in with food. I love to cook and share recipes, so check back to find some yummy recipes.
