action, language, animals....oh my

I can't help myself. Every song has an action, that's just how it is and Oliver is starting to catch on.

First was "this little light of mine" he waves his finger around, hides it under the bush and yells No at just the right time. Since then we have mastered some of the actions for other songs/rhymes like "5 little monkeys" "row, row, row your boat" "itsy bitsy spided" "here we go round the mulberry bush" and "pat a cake" However, his favorite action, as of current, is to sign and say "again" so the songs and rhymes can get repeated over and over...usually while sitting on the potty waiting for something to happen. I think being able to remember and go along with the actions gives him confidence with the songs even when he is not ready/able to sing them yet.

Though he is not quite ready for singing, he is starting to put two word phrases together. His favorite phrases include...

all done
loud show (usually related to fireworks, and thunderstorms)
too hot
big bug
big bite
big truck
not nice (usually related to unrolling toilet paper)
uh oh (usually related to things falling)
let's go

Another language related note he is a master of animal sounds. Cat, dog, cow, horse, duck, rooster, turkey, goose, sheep, goat, owl, tiger, lion, bear (those last three all roar, so it's easy) bird, and monkey (the most hilarious) We try to practice a few new ones each week, seems much easier for him than saying the animals name...eventually.

I put Jim in charge of practicing colors with him. No update on that yet.
